For anyone looking to get into quadcopters, this is a great introduction to quadcopter flying. This is actually my second quadcopter I have purchased. The first was a ProtoX which is far smaller than this one. I’m not going to go into much detail about the differences between the two, let’s just leave it at the fact that the Hubsan x4 feels much sturdier than the Proto. After owning this item for almost a month now, I can speak for a few pros and cons with the quad:
The best quadcopter for under $100 !!!!!
My purchase of the red/sliver Hubsan Hj107C is my 2nd X4 quadcopter purchase. The first H107C i bought (green/black) went to my wife as an early birthday present. At around $50 apiece, these things are a great bargain as they are very well made and fly well indoors and outside. In addition to what was listed on Amazon, both quadcopters also came with a prop protector and prop removal tool. We’ve also bought one crash pack and a set of 5 batteries. I highly recommend getting at least a couple of additional batteries as charging times can easily range from 75 minutes to an hour and 45 minutes depending on which power sources you have available for USB charging.
The first gen X4 (H107C) is a solid flyer that records video without sound
This is a fun and fast little quad, I bought this after loosing my Holy Stone HS170 on top of a building where it couldn’t be retrieved. I love having a camera on this, even though there is not any sound with the video recording. I was surprised that unlike my larger Syma X5C-1, you can not start and stop video recording while the X4 (H107C) is flying. The X4 has a button you press on the side of the quad before flying and must remember to turn it off after flying before disconnecting the batter (if you don’t you’re video file becomes corrupt and you loose it).
It Was A Major Hit
This thing makes a great gift for little brothers or nerdy boyfriends or anyone who enjoys a good remote control diversion.
Nice little RC
Have about 10 minutes of flight time. So far it seems pretty durable. Probably need to be 10 years or older to fly. Important note is this unit takes a microSD Card. I inadvertently bought a SD card after reading some other comments.
so. much. fun.
Fast I cannot even begin to explain how this one can book-it like no other one I have purchased
I have recently bought and test a variety of Quad Copters and I am seriously impressed with the this product. I have lost and crashed a few and was thinking of buying a gps tag that I could locate, but no worries here, this one comes with distance reporting to controller so I know how far and how high the thing is. Fast I cannot even begin to explain how this one can book-it like no other one I have purchased. 30 MPH? yeah Its for real. hard body shell, and special legs that detach in a crash, I mean LOL, I went through 5 of this other brand because of the shell cracking and the legs literally breaking in two pieces after one crash. I don’t ever write reviews, but all this for under $30. Not only is this a great drone in its own rite, but for the price its a KILLER deal…. Loving it!!!!
You can obviously spend thousands on a high end drone. For the money this drone is a great value. I only use it for fun at the park every once in a while. A more expensive drone wouldn’t be worth it for me since I currently don’t do much with it. It flies and takes video. Because it’s so small you have to practice flying and controlling it. A decent wind gust will take it off course and you may end up stuck in a tree if you’re not careful. That said the small size is beneficial for carrying it around.
Highly Functional Drone – It does take flying skills so practice before you really let it go!
This is definitely not a toy. Be sure to calibrate before you fly and while the directions to do that are confusing, watch a video on utube and you will be able to do it in 10 seconds or less. Also, do not stuff the battery cables into the back like it states in the directions, just insert and hook up the battery and leave the cables out, centered by eyeball. Once you get it calibrated, hooked up, it is ready to fly. I suggest practicing indoors (with carpet flooring) to practice, practice, practice. You really have to have a fair amount of flight time to develop the “touch” needed to operate the controller smoothly. At first you might find it difficult, but over time your skills improve and you will be able to fly it around and land it pretty consistently. At that point you are ready to take it outside and test your skills. Extra batteries and props are highly recommended. Unless you have a workbench and can solder, don’t buy replacement engines, I did and then found out they were pretty much useless (to me).
