This quad great fun!
We happened upon some quads at a local hobby store and thought they looked like fun. At home, my son found the X4 after researching many others and thought it would be the one he would want. I ordered three for Christmas (one for each of my boys, and one for me!).
Precise Flying and Great Value.
The first thing I became aware of when the package arrived was how small this quad copter is. The central pod containing the camera and battery is only about two inches long. Each rotor is about two inches in diameter, and the entire copter is about a six inch square. Red lights indicate the rear of the copter. The remote is actually bigger than the copter, and feels very natural and comfortable in two hands.
Not really for beginners
Three stars is a bit of a stretch. I bought this based on a review that said it was a great drone for a beginner. I guess that’s true, they just need to be a better beginner than me.
these are great little quads
I’ve purchased 2 of these little babies….I lost the first one, so I ordered a second to replace (as luck would have it, today I found the first). First off, these are great little quads. They are durable, pretty easy to fly, and have decent range. The camera is okay given what you pay for it. After I lost the first one, 2 weeks past where we had 9 inches of snow, that melted, then we had some rain…..3 days later, I found it and it still worked. Now, I wouldn’t recommend treating yours that way, but I was happy that mine still worked. Make sure to buy the crash kit…you’ll go through propellers for sure and possibly a motor. My only real complaint is that if you get to high, you’ll go out of transmitter range, and most of the time it won’t recover….which means a free fall. On the brighter side, they are pretty light and, in my experience, they will survive the crash unless they hit something hard. Oh yeah, and it is possible to hit hard enough to pop the SD card out….always check for that after a crash. I’ve lost one SD card that way and managed to find another that had popped out. Another tip, I wrapped the front motors with aluminum tape so that I could more easily see which way was front once it got up high enough or far enough away….it’s easy to lose control if you don’t know which way is forward. I’ve attached a picture of both, the original on the left without the tape, and the second on the right with the tape.
Very high quality product for the price.
This thing it incredibly stable during flight for how tiny it is (about the size of a sandwich). It’s incredibly maneuverable and has fantastic range. The camera quality is poor, but it’s got a freaking camera!
Amazing Quadcopter, made some research before I bought it..
Solid, maintenance can be tricky
This little guy is really well powered, intuitive in its controls, and robust for its size.
