Customer Reviews

the IPhone App has worked flawlessly and overall I’m very happy. If my attitude changes

I bought this as an initial trainer to see if drone flying is right for me. So far I’m impressed and no reason not to give this a high rating. The length of flights have been approx. 7-10 minutes, the IPhone App has worked flawlessly and overall I’m very happy. If my attitude changes, I’ll update my review but so far I’m more than impressed for the price. JUST NOTE: This is not a high end photography platform. That costs real money but this is a great entry to learn how to fly and position the camera, etc.

Excellent buy!

Everything that came in the box was what I expected. Setup was easy. Took about 20 min, including downloading the app to the iPhone. I bought it for my 6 year old son, so I didn’t want to spend a lot knowing it could all end with one crash. I couldn’t even believe that a box that size could get from China to the States for the purchase price alone. The only semi-issue is that it is shipped out of China by a Chinese shipping company. Somehow the shipping co. Doesn’t share data w Amazon like a stateside purchase does. The only date I got was at checkout, and it said that it would be delivered in 3 weeks.. To my surprise (and more importantly my sons!!) it showed at the door 5 business days later. The instructions are easy to follow, with little arbitrary Chinese translation. Flights are roughly 5 min per battery, and batteries take 30-45 min to charge. The controls are intuitive, my son had it down in about 6 tries. It’s a pretty awesome bang for the buck, and seems pretty rugged so far. It’s hit the ground surprisingly hard and survived. The crashes we’re definitely attributed to pilot error.. My boy just cuts the lift completely sometimes.. Till it bounces off the ground. The camera system works seamlessly with and old iPhone 5 we use for the camera screen & wifi app. It’s not streaming high definition for sure, but my boy is blown away that he can record flights and take pics of the neighborhood. You’re not gonna get gopro level footage, but it’s hardly a gopro camera. It’s definitely a worthwhile buy for the first time flyer. I can’t remember if there is a option to buy more batteries, but if there is, that’s the only change I’d make. We got 3, and with crashes and battery changes, you end up at around a half hour experience. It’s plenty for me, but not for a 6 year old.

Product was delivered on time and was exactly what I expected battery life is really short so I would recommend buying extra batteries and if your new to flying like I was I would buy extra blade protectors and landing gear. But after a few bad crashes its a lot of fun to fly once you get use to it

Durable

Got it stuck at the top of my neighbors tree on the second day after I got it. It was up there almost another two weeks thru rain storms etc. Finally the wind knocked it off the branch and to a lower position that I could reach with a pole and pull it out. Put a battery in it and it flew perfect. Was taking some video the other day at about 70-80 feet. Wind started to take it and I could not bring it down before I lost control. Flew to the next street over and crashed on the front lawn of a house. Not a mark on it. Still works great. Very very durable quad.

Buttload of fun!

I really liked this little quad. Then a tree reached out and grabbed it. It is now being held hostage, 50 feet above the ground. I believe I needed more practice before flying that high, but it happens. I had been flying around the office practicing maneuvers and flying low by the house. It was working great and “fun”. Fairly easy to control. The camera was adequate. Very good for the price. I recommend this quad but I also recommend flying in a field or parking lot with no fences or trees until you get the hang of it. Very easy to get discombobulated when its 75 feet up. I also didnt have my iPhone viewer connected at the time so I was doubly lost

Loads of fun and unbeatable for the price!

The SYMA X5SW Explorer 2 is a great little quadcopter! Tons of fun to fly as a beginner or experienced operator. The day it came I took it on 4 flights. The only 2 things I don’t like about the X5SW is that outdoor in lite wind it’s not able to fly into the wind and the other is it has short range. Other than that it’s a blast and for the money you can’t beat it ($60 or so). It great for honing your quick control ability. I would have given it 5 stars hadn’t it been for the two issues I list above. Hope you enjoy the X5SW as much as I do. –PhillyPhlyer15

Well worth the price

Works good, I have already experience with the X5-1 which has a superior HD camera, but this one flies as well and the lower resolution camera is offset by the fact that you can see on your cellphone what the quadcopter actually sees. The software is easily downloaded by scanning the barcode on the box, and is simplicity itself to install and run. You can get the barcode scanning software for your pad or phone free. I let mine fly off out of range once, and found it no problem in the long grass by following the signal strength of the wifi in the camera….neat bit of gear.

Fun but short flight time

I got this for my nephew He loves it except when he got it stuck in a tree. What I dislike about it is the short battery life. It will only fly about 5 or 6 minutes until you have to recharge the battery

Fun indoor starter drone.

This is a great starter drone at a really good price. Comes with three batteries. Each one takes about 1.5 hours to charge and runs for 5-10 minutes.
